The skyrocketing demand for electric power around the globe necessitates the expansion of power grids to enable flexible coverage of peak loads. Over the last few years, power generation from gas turbine power plants has become increasingly more important.  Similarly to the establishent of smaller cogeneration units or combined cycle power plants, power is generated with high efficiency. Depending on the turbine type, the plant capacities of larger gas turbine plants range from 160 to 266 MW and are likely to rise.
